Dean Kearney started drifting at the early age of just 16 years old. After being introduced to the sport by his older brother, who bought him his first drift car - a Nissan Silvia S14 back in 2005, Dean knew that he wanted to pursue a career in drifting no matter what he had to do to make that happen.
Fast-forward to 2009 - Dean was still hungry to make drifting a career no matter how ridiculous that may have sounded at the time. One night he even went to the extreme of stealing the engine out of his older brothers' drift car so that he could put it into his own car, where he would go on to win the European drift championship dubbed the "Super Series" that same year.
The prize for becoming the champion that year was a guaranteed drive in the #1 drift championship in the world - Formula DRIFT. At the age of 21, Dean would pilot the Intec Racing Nissan S14 at Irwindale Speedway in October of 2009 where he would qualify in 33rd position, just narrowly missing out on competition battle.
Dean managed to secure a full-season drive for Intec Racing the following year, where his dreams of pursuing drifting as a career began to feel achievable. In 2011, Dean became the second driver in Samuel Hubinette's team, where he would drive the factory-sponsored Dodge Viper for the first time.
Today, 13 years later, Dean is now a Formula DRIFT vet & still pilots the unforgiving Dodge Viper chassis where he is only one of two drivers worldwide to do so.
