Daijiro has been a thrill seeker from even before he can remember. At the age of 11, Dai discovered the excitement of throwing his bicycle around corners at speed and skidding along the curbs in tight turns. At age 16, Dai got motorized and took to the nearby mountains on his 400cc motorcycle. At 18, Dai got into his first car. It was a 1985 Toyota Corolla Levin and he loved driving it on the windy roads of the mountains. It was at this time that he discovered that what he had actually been doing since age 11 was actually "drifting." When Dai turned 21, he turned to more serious pursuits taking on jobs at various companies including a car dealer, telephone company, and trucking service. Although Dai always loved drifting, he had to make a living first. In 2003 a friend came to Dai to offer him an opportunity of a lifetime, to drive for a company in the United States. Having always admired the U.S., Dai was thrilled to have this opportunity. But not having driven in years and never driven in a competition, was he up to the challenge? If he were going to find out it meant that he would need to pick up his life and move it across the ocean.

In early 2003, Dai came to the U.S. to drive a car for Pacific Rim Motorsport Fashion in the upcoming inaugural D1 Grand Prix USA. Having never competed, Dai was an amateur driver with no competition experience to speak of. At his first ever competition he made the qualification round and eventually ended up in the Best 16 round at the D1GP USA event. From then on, he took Second Place at Drift Showoff Irwindale and qualified in the top 24 at the following D1GP USA. For 2004 Dai competed on the Formula Drift Championship Series finishing in the top 8 at two rounds and placed 2nd at two of the rounds placing him 2nd overall in the championship. At FD he also earned the title as the man with the fastest entry speed at each event. In 2005 and 2006 he continued to shine in Formula D series standing on podium numerous times. And in 2007 he was fighting for the championship until the finale event eventually taking home third place in the standings winning 2 of the 7 competitions and standing on the podium in third place two other times. In 2008 Dai takes on a new challenge driving a factory backed GTO for RMR Racing. He hopes this new partnership along with a relationship with Bridgestone Tires will aid him in his bid to win the Formula D championship.
